Our department is seeking a well-motivated resident doctor to gain both clinical and surgical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within a teaching hospital setting. This post supports the candidate to gain experience in the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology core curriculum. An education supervisor is provided, and the post holder will be encouraged to engage with the e-portfolio to document training competencies. The day-to-day clinical responsibilities will form a significant part of the training offered. All doctors are expected to undertake audit and contribute to the weekly departmental academic teaching programme. The department will provide essential training such as PROMPT, CTG study day, and MED2.

Main duties of the job:

  • The successful candidate will participate in the on-call rota providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a three-tier system.
  • Other regular clinical sessions include antenatal clinic, gynaecology clinic, maternity triage, maternity day assessment unit, and theatre session.

Applicants should have completed MRCOG Part 3 and be registered with the GMC. The postholder will work under both direct and indirect supervision of consultants. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential. The successful candidate should demonstrate compassion towards patients, along with strong time management and organisational skills.
