We are inviting applications for a new Consultant post in Ear Nose and Throat to join an established and expanding team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual. Applicants will be required to demonstrate experience and training in the surgical management of common, non‑specialised conditions in children, and in rhinology and otology with independence in performing endoscopic sinus surgery, mastoidectomy and thyroidectomy. These capabilities should be clearly demonstrated on the list of surgical experience/procedures. Candidates will be considered for interview if they have a UK CCT/peri‑CCT, are on the UK specialist register. This post has been created to meet increasing demand and support ongoing service expansion and transformation. Initially commencing on a locum basis, there is full funding and approval to convert to a substantive post. Successful appointee will join the Head & Neck directorate of ENT, Oral Surgery & Ophthalmology. Services are delivered across all West Herts sites including Watford General, St Albans City Hospital and Hemel Hempstead Hospital. The appointee will join the regional network on call via East & North Herts (Lister Hospital), supporting the out of hours provision. With advanced plans for a new hospital at the Watford site and work underway to increase and update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
Main duties of the job: This is an appointment by West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (WHTH). The post involves cross‑site working, with opportunities to join the wider team for educational and training purposes. The indicative job plan is to be confirmed, will consist of clinic, theatre, on‑call and admin time and will be built to 10 PA's for full time applicants. Job plans may be reviewed as service needs alter. The Trust has long day working and may consider weekend working in the future.
