Job overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis as an Advanced Pharmacist for Women’s Services and Medicines Information. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services within Women’s Services while supporting the Trust‑wide Medicines Information service.
Main duties of the job: The post holder will be an experienced specialist pharmacist responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Team Leader for Surgery in delivering, developing, evaluating and managing day‑to‑day clinical pharmacy services to Women’s Services. Additionally, the post holder will support the Pharmacy Team Lead for Governance in providing a safe, efficient and comprehensive medicines information service, offering expert pharmaceutical advice, undertaking risk management and ensuring compliance with medicines legislation. The role includes facilitating and supporting medicines optimisation, participating in clinical audit and practice research, and may involve independent pharmacist prescribing (where qualified) in an agreed area of competency. The post holder is expected to act as a role model in line with corporate and departmental objectives, NHS plans and ICB system priorities.
Person specification:
- Education and qualifications: MRPharmS – GB. Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent). MSc/Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent experience). Management training. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Management qualification.
- Knowledge: Prescription monitoring. Computer and IT literate. Understanding of confidentiality requirements. Well‑developed therapeutic and clinical pharmacy knowledge in the relevant area. Up‑to‑date knowledge of national pharmacy issues. Critical appraisal skills. Preparation of written reports and procedures. Knowledge of NHS organisational structure. Knowledge of non‑medical prescribing legislation and governance. Health & Safety.
- Experience: Post‑qualification experience in hospital pharmacy. Experience providing clinical pharmacy to Women’s Services and Medicines Information. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience training pre‑reg pharmacists and junior staff. Experience with audit, research and development.
