We are looking for a part-time MRI Lead Radiographer to join our radiographic workforce at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust. We are fully equipped with 6 CT scanners, 3 MRI scanners, 10 DR mobiles and 10 DR general rooms.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, patient-centred MRI service, ensuring safe, effective, and timely diagnostic imaging while maintaining compliance with national standards and Trust policies. Working closely with the Lead Superintendent Radiographer, the successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the MRI service, lead and support a team of radiographers, supervise students and junior staff, manage waiting lists and service performance, and contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, and audit activities.
The role requires an experienced MRI Radiographer with excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills who is committed to delivering outstanding patient care and driving continuous improvement within the service.
Main duties of the job:
- Lead and manage the MRI team, ensuring a high standard of service delivery to patients and Radiologists.
- Oversee the clinical and operational management of MRI services within the Trust, ensuring efficiency and adherence to all standards.
- Provide mentoring and support to radiographers, students, and other healthcare professionals within the team.
- Ensure the completion of QA testing and maintain accurate records to uphold quality and safety standards.
- Actively participate in the Radiology Clinical Governance Programme, contributing to the continuous improvement of services.
- Collaborate with the wider Radiology team to enhance the delivery of patient care, ensuring protocols and procedures are followed.
- Work closely with senior managers and stakeholders to drive innovation and development in MRI services.

Education and qualifications:
- DCR(R) or BSc Radiography.
- PgC or PgD in MRI.
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
- Experience at Band 6 level or above.
Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of MRI techniques.
- Aware of current trends relevant to the profession.
- Health & Safety.
- Clinical Governance.
- Public sector / NHS knowledge.
Experience:
- Experience of managing an MRI service.
- Staff management.
