We are recruiting a full-time band 7 Interventional Radiology Lead Radiographer. The successful post holder will work collaboratively with our interventional quadrumvirate; Fluoroscopy Lead Radiographer, Lead Consultant Radiologist and Divisional Matron. The working pattern will be a base level of Monday to Friday, with opportunities for evening and weekend work. Core hours would be based around an 8 or 10 hour pattern, depending on the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide a high standard of radiographic service to Radiologists and patients.
  • Manage the needs of all patients attending the service.
  • Deliver effective management and leadership for a high quality Radiology service at WGH.
  • Inform optimal delivery of the service through clinical knowledge and experience.
  • Contribute to service development and demonstrate dynamic, innovative, forward thinking qualities.
  • Supervise junior staff and students, including radiographers during training and newly qualified radiographers during preceptorships.
  • Demonstrate experience, competence and confidence in a wide range of fluoroscopy and interventional cases, including independently managing the HSG and barium swallow pathways.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

The base site will be Watford General Hospital, in our brand new interventional radiology suite with 5 bed recovery space. Essential to hold competencies and confidence in interventional procedures, including HSGs and Ba Swallows.

Person specification:

Education and qualifications:

  • DCR(R) or BSc Radiography.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of postgraduate study.

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of adaptive techniques.
  • Aware of current trends relevant to the profession.
  • Health & Safety Clinical Governance.
  • Knowledge of interventional cases and procedures.
  • IRMER and IRR awareness.
  • Public sector / NHS knowledge.
  • Emergency processes and resus protocols in the acute hospital setting.

Experience:

  • Experience across a range of modalities.
  • Subject matter expert in Fluoroscopy and interventional radiology.
  • Documented NHS competence for HSG examinations and Ba Swallows.
  • Cross sectional imaging experience.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
