We are seeking a motivated IT Assistant to join UK NEQAS Haematology & Transfusion, an internationally recognised External Quality Assessment service based at Croxley Park, Watford. This is a permanent, full-time post working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
The post holder will provide day-to-day IT support across the unit, maintain our websites, assist in the procurement and deployment of IT hardware and software, and support software testing and documentation. You will receive direction and task assignment from the Band 7 IT Technical Engineer & Developer and work within a small, specialist IT team supporting and improving our service.
Main duties of the job:- Investigate and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
- Maintain and update the organisation’s information website.
- Assist in the maintenance of cloud servers and network infrastructure.
- Deploy and monitor hardware and software.
- Maintain PCs, laptops, and VoIP devices.
- Assign licensing and permissions in line with unit policies.
- Assist scientific and office staff in developing testing plans for new or updated software.
- Help write and maintain IT‑specific SOPs.
- Support the preparation of specifications for bespoke software changes.
A BSc in Computer Studies or equivalent experience is essential, along with proven IT support and web maintenance skills.

- Liaise with third‑party software and hardware suppliers and the Department of Clinical Informatics.
- Provide first‑line support for participant‑facing systems.
- Undertake change control and risk assessment for IT initiatives.
- Support systems resilience testing and software validation.
- Assist in the planning of IT service developments under the direction of senior IT staff.
- Train non‑IT staff on general applications and new systems.
- Advise colleagues on IT matters in your area of expertise.
- Support administrative tasks related to software contracts and database hosting.
- Education and qualifications: BSc in Computer Studies or equivalent experience.
