Job overview: Maternity cover – 1 year from July 2026. Provide administrative services and support to the Audiology and Hearing Therapy Departments at West Hertfordshire Hospitals. Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems, some non‑routine. Activities include answering queries, progress chasing, task‑related problem solving, acquired through experience.

Main duties of the job:

  • Maintain waiting list and appoint patients.
  • Deal with queries from patients and medical staff in writing, by telephone, email or post – independently compose responses.
  • Appoint patients using a specific audiological patient management system: detailing appointments given, devices issued to patients and recording all contact with patients.
  • Securely take patients' card details for payments for lost aids using an online banking system.
  • Handle all types of communication – busy telephone, written, email, face‑to‑face contact.
  • Provide an excellent telephone manner incorporating tact and a positive attitude to the hard of hearing.
