Band 4 - Urology Cancer Pathway Navigator, Urology

Contract: Permanent. Hours: 37.5 per week. Salary: £29,812 - £32,715 per annum. Location: West Herts – General Staffing Site, Cross Site Town, Watford.

We have one Band 4 Urology Cancer Pathway Navigator position that we intend to fill for early autumn. The role involves tracking and navigating patients through the urology cancer pathways – both diagnostic and surveillance – for prostate and bladder patients.

Main duties include:

  • Acting as the main point of administrative support and contact for the urology cancer triage clinical teams, liaising with them day-to-day and prioritising own workload.
  • Tracking and navigating patients through the urology cancer pathways, completing relevant database input throughout the process.
  • Serving as the point of contact for patients referred via their GP to the urology cancer services.
  • Coordinating and organising appointments and assessments with patients, exchanging information clearly and concisely, and dealing with anxiety, cultural and language difficulties.

Person specification:

  • Education and qualifications: Educated to A level or BTEC/GNVQ level – or relevant job experience.
  • Experience: Previous NHS administration. Working in or with cancer MDT teams. Proven experience of working to deadlines and targets. Experience of communicating complex instructions with sensitivity to patients and relatives.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of hospital and computer systems (Patient Centre, Infoflex). Knowledge of CRIS and urology cancer pathways. Knowledge of NHS Cancer Waiting Times.
