We are seeking a qualified electrician to work within a small team of electricians at St Albans City Hospital. Must be able to work unsupervised. May also be required to work at Saint Albans City Hospital and Hemel Hempstead Hospital from time to time. With additional benefits such as RRP, overtime, call out and on-call payments, there is earning potential in excess of £40,000.

Main duties of the job:
- To carry out planned maintenance and fault find electrical circuits.
- Must be city and guilds trained and to have completed an electrical apprenticeship.
- 18th edition regulations qualification would be beneficial.
- Understanding the workings of fire alarm systems and nurse call systems.
- Able to work on small power and lighting circuits.
- Partake in the on-call emergency cover rota.
- Complete PPM as per HTM compliance.
- An understanding of Generators, Fire alarms, LV panels, Boiler plant and nurse call systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
Working as part of a team in the estates department looking after the electrical services. You may be asked from time to time to cover duties on our other sites, such as SACH, HHH, and clinics. You will be required to cover out of hour duties as part of the on-call rota reporting to the on-call manager. At times you may be required to cover supervisory duties.

Education and qualifications:
- Electrical qualification City and Guilds 236 part A and B and City and Guilds 2391 Inspecting and testing AP and CP completed courses.
- Previous NHS experience.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of LV, CP electrical requirements.
- Experience of Fire alarms, Generators and Lifts, Nurse call systems, UPS systems.
- Knowledge of Mechanical systems, Med Gas, Boilers, Heating and Ventilation systems, AHU and BMS control systems.
Experience:
- Apprenticeship at college and on the tools.
- NHS experience.
- Experience working in a multidisciplined maintenance organisation preferably within a healthcare environment.
- Demonstrable experience of working without direct supervision.
- Demonstrable ability at problem solving within a maintenance context.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
