This is an opportunity for an experienced midwife to join a friendly, well-established community midwifery team. The role involves providing antenatal and postnatal care to a geographically defined group of women and delivering intrapartum care at home births as part of an on-call rota. The community area is large, requiring independent travel between clinical sites and women’s homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide antenatal and postnatal care in community clinics and women’s homes.
- Participate in the community on-call service, supporting women birthing at home and responding to the trust escalation process.
- Deliver a full range of perinatal care, including health education and liaison with multidisciplinary/agency groups.
- Support student midwives and junior staff through professional development.
- Provide occasional support to the inpatient unit as part of escalation procedures.
Person Specification:
- Education: Appropriate UK professional registration (NMC).
- Knowledge: Understanding of the role of the midwife as defined by the NMC and The Code, and an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of evidence-based practice.
- Experience: Experience working in all areas of midwifery, including intrapartum experience and completion of preceptorship.
- Excellent communication, time-management and the ability to work independently in a 7-day a week service.
