A Business Intelligence Analyst, or Business Analyst is responsible for collecting and analysing data to identify trends and patterns that inform future business decisions. Their duties include complex data modelling, designing data analysis methodologies and compiling reports to present to senior management. Must work closely with various teams to establish performance metrics, create reports and dashboards, and communicate findings to help guide business decisions and strategies.
Main duties of the job:
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to identify areas of the business that could benefit from analysis, stock analysis, and PAR levels, department stock takes.
- Sharing information across multiple teams (Procurement, Supply Chain, Catalogue).
- Reviewing data collection processes and assessing the validity of the information from Genesis IMS.
- Reconcile the data every week, products that may have been removed and fix accordingly.
- Cross checks: GHX Catalogue, Supply Chain, Oracle, Integra, EPR systems.
- Identifying stock wastage, expiries, and upcoming out-of-date stock items.
- Understanding the laws surrounding the collecting and processing of data and ensuring that all policies reflect current legislation.
- Identifying anomalous data and examining and eliminating any processes or procedures that contribute to unreliable data being collected.
- Analyse inventory, supply chain, and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and optimisation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain Genesis dashboards, reports, and KPIs that support forecasting, stock accuracy, replenishment, and warehouse performance.
- Work closely with various departments and operations teams to define data requirements for the new Inventory Management system, pre and post implementation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
- Identify savings and work closely with the NHSSC Benefits Realisation Team.
- Support UAT and system rollout by testing data flows, reporting outputs, and end‑to‑end processes.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify data issues, bottlenecks, or anomalies.
- Senior Super User to the department Super Users of the Genesis IMS.
- Deputise in the absence of the Continuous Improvement Manager and cover for other duties as and when required, directed via the Continuous Improvement Manager.
- Validate data quality, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure consistent data definitions across the platform.
- Translate business needs into clear analytical requirements and support decision‑making with evidence‑based insights.

Person specification:
- Postgraduate Commercial Procurement Supply Chain Operations and Transformation related qualification or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Member of a professional body.
- Understanding of the healthcare environment and the public sector.
- Knowledge of project principles.
Experience:
- Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment.
- Experience of co‑ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
