Job Description
Overview β The following content describes the role, responsibilities and requirements for this position within Westfield.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure exposure data standards are well understood by Underwriting and actively monitored.
- To report and make data quality recommendations highlighting areas for improvement.
- To drive process efficiencies by embedding technology.
- To contribute towards a strategic roadmap, ensuring profitable portfolio growth and optimisation.
- Ensure processes are aligned with Westfield best practice, exceed Lloyd\\\βs Principles.
- To make risk level recommendations to drive Underwriting margin.
- To ensure excellent Cat modelling service levels and accuracy across all product lines.
- To conduct research into modelled perils and assist in validating market vendors and implementing an updated Westfield view of risk.
- To assist Underwriting teams in risk selection by performing marginal impact, tolerance management and portfolio optimization.
- To act as a Westfield representative at external forums, market bodies and conferences where appropriate.

- To ensure all key deliverables are executed at the required frequency and quality.
- Communications:
- To assist in aligning Westfield modelling geographies, ensuring a globally consistent approach.
- To assist in forging strong relationships with Underwriting and EM teams.
- Strategy and Stakeholder Management:
- To work closely with underwriting leaders to improve risk selection and portfolio constitution.
- To assist in delivering underwriting goals.
- To participate in the selection of third-party models.

Qualifications
- Excellent academic qualifications with a degree essential.
- Strong mathematical, modelling, technical background.
- Understanding of geological, meteorological, hydrological concepts advantageous
- Insurance qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 4 years\\\β catastrophe modelling experience.
- Experience of major vendor models RMS and/or AIR essential.
- Previous experience of catastrophe modelling and/or exposure management in the Lloyds market.
- Previous experience of model evaluation desirable
- Experience of / proficiency in the use of mapping / analytical software, QGIS, Spatial Key etc. desirable.
- Must be proficient in Excel and the use of SQL.
- Additional programming skills, VBA, Python/R, an advantage.
