About the role

Are you a detail-oriented, proactive professional with a passion for operational excellence? Join the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as a Senior Business Operations Officer - a key role at the heart of healthcare education. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting high-impact postgraduate and post-qualification programmes, acting as the bridge between our academic teams, healthcare providers, and government departments. You’ll manage vital financial and contractual processes, ensuring smooth coordination of course sponsorships, payments, and budget oversight. Working closely with the Course Finance & Reporting Manager and wider operations team, you’ll also contribute to faculty-wide functions across HR, IT, Finance, and Compliance. From generating financial reports to streamlining systems and improving service delivery, your work will directly support our students’ educational journey and the wider faculty mission.

This role offers far more than administration - it’s an opportunity to lead on projects, influence process improvements, and shape strategic operations in one of the world’s most respected healthcare faculties. With us, you’ll gain broad operational experience and collaborate with a vibrant and supportive team. You’ll also have responsibility for the day-to-day oversight and usage of the local finances, both pay and non-pay budgets, generating purchase orders, invoices and foreign payments, journalling miscoded transactions and monitoring income and expenditure. In particular, you will be responsible for processing regular payments to our placement providers and coordinating the financial aspects of the faculty’s executive education programmes. You will use standard operating processes and procedures, and work closely with your manager and wider team, to ensure compliance with regulations governing local activities. You will support the day-to-day and longer-term planning to ensure that all activities are delivered to a high standard and will work collaboratively to improve processes to make them as efficient as possible.

The post may be expected to manage projects and resources, and deputise for your manager, working to put in place ongoing business continuity and service resilience. The post would suit someone who is proactive in delivering and coordinating a range of activities and is able to work independently, effectively managing competing priorities and has a good attention to detail. You will be a problem solver and an advocate for process improvement and innovation. You must also be able to build and maintain effective working relationships across the Faculty, central teams and external partners to facilitate operational delivery and planning, and be committed to principles of culture, equality, diversity, and inclusion and supporting cultural change. The post holder will gain invaluable experience in a wide range of operations in the Faculty, working with colleagues to support the student experience and academic impact of the university. This post is part of the business operations career pathway in the university, with progression and skills training opportunities to facilitate further development.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, we’d love to hear from you. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. King’s considers the professional and personal development of our staff a priority and we offer an inspiring range of opportunities for training and career progression. Our Organisational Development team provide in-house and bespoke learning.
