About the role:

Our Fitness Managers work within large client corporate sites, leading the delivery and development of fitness and activity services across active spaces. This role combines operational leadership, programme design, team management and stakeholder engagement to ensure high-quality, safe and inclusive physical activity provision. The postholder will work closely with operational and wellbeing teams to drive participation, support retention and embed best practice in health and safety and safeguarding.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of fitness coaches, instructors and casual staff; provide regular coaching, performance feedback and training to maintain service standards.
  • Deliver Personal Training sessions, focusing on care and prevention techniques for the sites corporate employees.
  • Plan, oversee and quality assure a varied programme of group exercise, classes and workshops suitable for diverse abilities and health needs; ensure adaptations and inclusive practice are applied.
  • Implement initiatives to increase participation and member engagement, supporting progression pathways and retention strategies.
  • Manage operational aspects of delivery, including equipment logistics, site set‑up, risk assessments and routine safety checks.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and safeguarding policies; lead incident reporting, investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Act as an ambassador for UK Health and Wellbeing; promote relevant programmes, offers and wellbeing initiatives to clients and participants.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation where required; support scheduling, basic administrative tasks to maintain efficient service delivery.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, partners and internal teams to support continuous improvement and successful contract delivery.

What we’re looking for:

  • Recognised fitness qualifications (for example Level 2/3, REPs or equivalent) with additional leadership or management training desirable.
  • 2 years+ experience of working in a gym floor environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage diverse groups.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to plan across sites, prioritise competing demands and work independently to meet operational requirements.
  • Demonstrable commitment to health and safety and safeguarding best practice, with the ability to respond to incidents professionally.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to travel within London.
