As an Engineer at Westfalia Fruit, you will play a vital role in supporting our preventative maintenance strategy, ensuring the seamless operation of our facility with health & safety at the forefront of everything you do. Your responsibilities include working to maintenance schedules, delivering against set KPIs and adhering to our rapid response protocols.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to our other sites in Spalding may be required.

Working Conditions: There will be some physical demands within this role and it will involve manual handling. Duties will include lifting heavy boxes, working with automated machinery and assisting with deliveries in the packhouse.

Shift Pattern: 12‑hour shifts, starting at 6 pm and working through until 6 am (4 days on, 4 days off).

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Support the wider team with the preventative maintenance strategy, following maintenance schedules and documentation.
  • Working collaboratively to enhance preventative measures across our sites.
  • Under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisors, adhere to the rapid response protocols.
  • Contribute insights to maintenance trends for process improvements.
  • Share knowledge across the teams for continuous learning.
  • Ensure the continuity of a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Support the Engineering Manager/Supervisors with new system implementations.
  • Participate in the integration of new systems, testing and validation processes.
  • Participate in regular facility audits for safety and compliance.
  • Ad‑hoc tasks and duties to ensure the maintenance of the facility.

Requirements:

Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous exposure to a similar maintenance position (apprenticeship or entry level role).
  • Willingness to work the night shift as advertised.
  • Ability to drive and have access to own transportation.

Desirable Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Qualifications within electrical, plumbing, mechanical or refrigeration would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work in an agile environment.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of finish to all work carried out.
  • Willingness to pick up new skills and training quickly and to a high standard.
  • Team player with good relationship building skills.
  • Dependable and self‑motivated.
  • Efficient and pro‑active in day‑to‑day work.
