We have an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the team at Westerton Primary Academy. Westerton Primary Academy is proud to be an inclusive and caring school, providing high quality education. Situated in an outer suburb of South Leeds, the school has grown in size over the last decade and we now have over 700 pupils on roll. Working together, we deliver a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, allowing for pupils’ differing abilities and aptitudes that leads to success for every child.

Who are we looking for? Step into a rewarding role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, where you’ll play a vital part in helping our children succeed and thrive. In this dynamic position, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and assessment of lessons across all year groups, supporting high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school.

You may be called upon to cover teacher release time or absence, and there may also be opportunities to lead teaching in specific subjects across the Academy. As a valued HLTA, you will work collaboratively with teaching staff, supporting the full planning cycle and helping to prepare and manage learning resources.

You will supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, while also using your advanced knowledge and skills to support pupils’ progress, monitor achievement and encourage independent learning. Beyond the classroom, you will play a key role in promoting pupil welfare, supporting inclusion, and contributing to the development of support staff, as well as academy policies and strategies.

Your work will make a meaningful difference every day, raising standards of achievement and ensuring every pupil can engage fully in all aspects of academy life. The post offers challenge, reward and role development for the right candidate. The role will be based at Westerton Primary Academy with opportunities to work with other professionals across the Trust.
