About the role

Westernport Water are seeking a Senior Maintenance Officer to join the team and provide ongoing Network Operations and Maintenance services across the Corporation’s water and wastewater systems within agreed service standards 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Be part of a skilled team delivering operations and maintenance services across water and wastewater networks, including participation in the after-hours on-call roster to deliver a 24/7 response to faults and emergencies.
  • Ensure all work being carried out within the scope of this role including leading Maintenance Officers in the field is done so in line with Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Accurately complete work orders and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to deliver high-quality and efficient service outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, team members, managers and contractors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Contribute operational information to support maintenance planning and asset management systems.
  • Apply knowledge of water and wastewater operations, including confined space entry, trench shoring, traffic control, pump maintenance and working at heights.
  • Safely operate mechanical plant and equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Network Operations) and/or possess a trade qualification with demonstrated experience working in the Water Industry in sewer and/or water networks.
  • Well-developed administrative and computer skills.
  • Current drivers licence suitable for Victoria (medium rigid truck licence desirable).
  • Qualifications through prior training in confined space, traffic control and WH&S practices desirable.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Trade Qualifications or significant relevant experience in network operations and maintenance in the water industry.
  • Prior experience supervising a multi-skilled team to achieve specific objectives efficiently.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of safety procedures, use of correct PPE and evidence of WH&S reporting practices.
  • Experience being part of a rostered and ad hoc after hours/on call arrangement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with developed computer skills.
  • Current drivers licence suitable for Victoria.
