Western Road Surgery is looking to recruit a receptionist tojoin our team on a Part time basis. The role will be a regular 18 hours, withan additional 5 hours of regular holiday cover.
Main duties of the job
Our Reception team are the first point of contactfor patients whether they walk in, phone in, or use triage or email. The roleincludes booking appointments, arranging prescriptions, and dealing with alltypes of requests that come in from patients.

Western Road Surgery is a busy and growing teaching practicein Billericay, Essex.
Our team is made up of 6 Partners, Nurses, Pharmacists, a GPAssistant, Care-Co Ordinators, Practice Manager, Secretaries, Administratorsand Receptionists. You will be working closely alongside our Practice Managerand supporting her in that role.
Billericay is a commuter town in Essex. The Surgery islocated a 5-minute walk from the Station and backs onto the High Street whichis full of places to enjoy a coffee or lunch break. We work with the otherpractices in town as part of Billericay PCN.
Job responsibilities
You will work within a team of 5-6 receptionists each day tomanage incoming calls, emails and triage requests from patients. This willinclude booking appointments, sharing test results, arranging prescriptionsetc. Youll also manage tasks from other healthcare professionals such asdistrict nurses, sharing these with the correct team members.
Youll provide support to the Clinical team, which couldinclude chaperoning examinations or restocking rooms. Youll also support withgeneral administration and filing of records.
Person Specification
Experience
- β have experience of working within a receptionist role, ideally within a primary care general practice position, but this is not essential.
- have experience of receiving and making telephone calls in a previous role.
- β have strong IT skills and be able to use computer-based systems experience of SystmOne would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
- β have strong organisational skills
- β have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal staff as well as external agencies and patients
- β be able to work effectively within a team, as well as to work independently. This list is not exhaustive and is subject to change by request of the practice manager and partners.
