Western Road Surgery is looking for a General Practitioner to join our clinical team. The role includes seeing patients, interpreting pathology, prescribing appropriately, and training registrars and trainee medical students. The surgery serves 13,000 patients in a fast‑paced environment, using the triaging tool AccuRX to book appointments.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions for patients of all ages; perform physical examinations, take histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide treatments or referrals to specialists.
- Preventive Care & Health Education: Provide routine check‑ups, immunisations, screenings, and lifestyle guidance to promote wellness and manage chronic conditions.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate patient records, document care, issue prescriptions, manage referrals, handle billing and insurance claims, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and other specialists; participate in audits, accreditation activities, and after‑hours or on‑call services.
- Professional Development: Maintain current medical knowledge through continuing education, adhere to professional standards, maintain medical indemnity insurance, and hold current resuscitation certification.
- Other Responsibilities: Keep up to date with mandatory training, manage information governance and data protection, and adhere to health and safety, safeguarding, and infection control policies.
Qualifications
- Registered with the GMC
- Completion of a Residency Programme in General Practice
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
- Competent with IT systems
- Experience working in a Primary Care Network or a GP Surgery
- Experience working with SystmOne
- Experience in Audit and Quality Improvement
