Senior WHS Risk Specialist – Permanent Full Time / Perth CBD Office
Provide strategic advice for the effective management of work health and safety risk management across Western Power, including consultation with Heads of Function, Area Managers and Function groups to establish and review key work health and safety risk exposures.
Provide strategic direction, subject matter expertise and advice in relation to the development and ongoing management of Western Power’s work health and safety risk management programs.
Your Role in Action
- Support and assist the business in the development and implementation of work health and safety risk management initiatives, as required.
- Monitor and report on critical work health and safety risks that impact on Western Power to ensure continual improvement of work health and safety performance.
- Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders to develop appropriate risk treatment strategies.
- Provide strategic advice for management of WHS risk across multiple business functions.
- Consult with Senior Leadership and operational staff to identify and review key health and safety risks.
- Offer subject matter expertise and strategic direction in the development and continuous improvement of WHS management programs.
- Guide and support both internal and external stakeholders in risk mitigation and WHS performance.
- Ensure effective WHS risk treatment strategies in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide support and guidance in the review and assessment of Western Power’s suppliers safety practices including incident investigations, safety plans and related documentation and external assurance activities to align with Western Power’s SHE standards.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary level qualification in Safety, Risk, or other relevant discipline.
- Extensive experience in the provision of strategic advice and guidance to senior management on work health and safety risk and related issues.
- Proven experience managing safety on high-risk site‑based operations.
- Strong background in leading and communicating during significant safety incidents, with the ability to engage effectively with workers at all levels to identify root causes and implement remediation strategies.
- Extensive experience in the provision of work health and safety risk advice and management of change.
- Experience in developing and delivering risk management studies, including facilitation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Work, Health and Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to think creatively and influence stakeholders, take initiative, plan, and execute complex projects.
