This position is accountable for leading a team of Contractor Compliance Specialists, responsible for ensuring that Western Power’s contractors operate in accordance with all contractual requirements, including safety, environmental, and quality management. The team plays a critical role in supporting contract management by overseeing contractor operations, verifying claims, and maintaining contract integrity and efficiency. The leader is expected to foster a high-performance culture, promote best practices, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards. This leadership role involves overseeing daily compliance activities and driving continuous improvement within the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Optimizing team performance, mentoring team members, and fostering professional development to build capability and resilience.
- Managing Western Power contractors working on contracts of significant value and complexity.
- Maintaining a consistent and effective site presence for Contractor Compliance Specialist (CCS) activities, including incident response.
- Ensuring adequate onsite resourcing for outsourced works.
- Maintaining high compliance levels and consistent application of the contract management framework.
- Providing technical advice, expertise, and direction to the team, organizing resources to achieve outcomes.
- Ensuring constructability reviews are completed before contract execution.
- Ensuring documentation validates claims and variations.
- Promoting a consistent approach to contractor and contract delivery using systems, tools, and templates.
- Fostering a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

What Makes You a Great Fit:
- Degree in Law, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or trade qualifications with 15+ years of broad contract and/or construction management experience.
- Extensive industry knowledge and technical expertise in complex contract management (10+ years).
- Strong understanding of the external contracting market, governance, and probity.
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in construction management.
- Leadership, influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Electrical industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to handle pressure, ambiguity, and change.
