Job Introduction
We are recruiting a Grade 4 Network Planner for a 9-month temporary role at our Birmingham depot, subject to review. Planners design our network and collaborate with Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter, and replace equipment. The role is fast-paced, requiring trust from customers to provide excellent service and minimize impact.

Applicants need GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 or higher, with evidence of qualifications. This role offers a hybrid working approach, combining office and home working after initial training, based on business needs.

Main responsibilities
  • Design and deliver new services, alterations, and small capital projects
  • Conduct onsite meetings
  • Coordinate with wayleaves/estates specialists for third-party agreements
  • Review and close projects financially
  • Communicate effectively with customers to manage expectations and resolve queries
  • Schedule contracted works
  • Engage with local authorities and external stakeholders

Strong communication skills are essential to understand customer needs and explain issues clearly. The role requires resilience, organization, and the ability to prioritize workload. Experience with iPads and computers is necessary, and mobility within the area may be required for standby duties. If you lack some skills, appropriate training will help you reach the necessary standards. You may need to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR, including daily diary entries and reports. A valid driving license is required. The role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check, with different screening levels depending on the role.
