Job Introduction
We are recruiting a Grade 6 Network Planner to join our Northampton/Milton Keynes depot. Planners design our network and collaborate with Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter, and replace equipment. The role is fast-paced, requiring you to provide excellent service to our customers while minimizing impact.

Candidates should have at least English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or Functional Skills Level 2 or above. A Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 or equivalent qualification is required, with evidence of qualifications needed. If not already attained, Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 should be completed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, cost, and quote projects involving the replacement, diversion, or reinforcement of electricity network assets, primarily on the high-voltage network.
  • Prepare capital projects and coordinate off-site activities.
  • Design schemes according to Engineering Directives.
  • Prepare plans, schematics, wayleaves, notices, materials schedules, terms, quotations, and agreements.
  • Coordinate with Grade 7 Network Planner to meet network requirements.
  • Determine project details and approve them.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Manage scheme files from setup to completion.
  • Monitor project costs, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Visit sites and work from developer plans.

Experience as a Grade 5 Network Planner or a relevant electrical background is beneficial. Strong communication skills, organization, resilience, and the ability to prioritize are essential. Experience with iPads, computers, and software tools is required. You should be mobile within the area and prepared for standby duties.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding interests through appropriate vetting, including DBS checks where applicable. Training will be provided to help you reach the necessary standards if you do not possess all required skills.
