A permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week) in the Infection Prevention and Control Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be an experienced First Level Registered Nurse with extensive experience as an infection prevention and control specialist nurse. An appropriate qualification in infection prevention and control is desirable, along with a teaching qualification (e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent).

Main duties of the job:

  • Lead the IPC Team to ensure operational alignment with strategic aims and national requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust surveillance systems for HCAI statistical data.
  • Provide regular information to the Head of Nursing (IP&C) and the Integrated Care Board (ICB).
  • Manage local and Trust targets related to national IPC metrics.
  • Analyse and report IPC data, advising relevant groups on implications and actions required.
  • Interpret national guidance/policy and develop local policy/guidance to drive best practice.
  • Implement operational systems to contain and reduce infection incidence through various methods.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients, employing over 6258 staff and serving a population of approximately 407,000.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Diploma/BSc in Infection Prevention & Control, Teaching and assessing qualification, NMC registration.
  • Desirable: Management qualification or leadership programme experience.

Experience:

  • Essential: Current and extensive experience as a specialist nurse in infection prevention & control at a senior level, experience in writing policies, conducting audits, and risk assessments.
  • Desirable: Experience in a management position.

This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Disclosure submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
