Consultant in Care of the Elderly Medicine Specialising in Stroke
We are inviting applications for a substantive Consultant Geriatrician post with a specialist interest in Stroke. Working full‑time, 10 sessions per week.
Job Summary
The Elderly Medicine Department has grown rapidly over the past seven years. This additional post will bring the number of Geriatricians within the department to fourteen and will support the existing Acute Geriatrics Team. The role offers opportunities to influence the rapid developments occurring within this dynamic department, including specialist interest in Stroke and Acute Frailty services.
Responsibilities
The appointee will be expected to:
- Deliver specialist Stroke and Acute Geriatrics care according to clinical guidelines.
- Rotate through General Geriatrics cover and Stroke Medicine cover as per the indicative job plan.
- Support teaching and clinical audit activities within the service.
- Integrate within, motivate and provide professional lead in multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to management and organisational improvement initiatives.

- GMC registration with licence to practice
- MRCP
- Dual CCST in Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Medicine (or within 6 months of interview), or alternative route to specialist register (e.g. CESR)
- ALS

- Wide clinical experience in general internal medicine and medicine for older people
