We’ve recently launched Westerleigh Funeral Plans to help funeral directors provide peace of mind to those they serve in their local community and who want to plan and pre-pay for their funeral. We’re looking for someone special to work with funeral directors, our local crematorium teams, and directly with local community groups to share the benefits of funeral planning, and why a Westerleigh Funeral Plan should be their first choice.

The role
- You’ll be the face of Westerleigh Funeral Plans in your region and divide your time across three key areas of focus:
- Funeral Director engagement – to promote and raise awareness of our funeral plan products and services in person and over the phone.
- Community Engagement – Using your creativity to organise and deliver region wide community promotional and engagement events to raise awareness and generate enquiries from prospective funeral plan customers.
- Funeral plan sales - Supporting face to face those looking to plan ahead, providing clear guidance and peace of mind through our tailored funeral plans whilst adhering to FCA regulation.
You will have a base at Howe Bridge Crematorium however travel will be required throughout the North West, Midlands and North Wales. There is also scope for occasional home working.
This rewarding opportunity also involves:
- Collaborate with the Crematorium Managers across the region to identify potential funeral director businesses through which you can promote the benefits of funeral planning.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities within the local community, including partnerships with funeral directors and other relevant organisations, to expand the reach and distribution of Westerleigh’s funeral plan products.
- Confidently meet with both funeral directors and prospective funeral plan customers to promote Westerleigh Funeral Plans and ensuring they meet their needs, contributing to increased sales.
- Generate awareness and leads through the proactive local promotion activity of the benefits of Westerleigh’s funeral plan options and the high-quality services and facilities available at Westerleigh Crematoria.
- Provide exceptional service across various communication channels (phone, email, web, live chat, etc.) in all customer interactions.
- Support customers with interest in Westerleigh’s wider cremation, burial and memorial product offerings, ensuring you direct them to the right colleague to find the solution best suited to their needs.
- Handle sensitive customer queries, from potentially vulnerable customers, with empathy and professionalism, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Process applications accurately, ensuring any necessary amendments are handled swiftly, and ensure customer satisfaction is achieved at every step of the FCA regulated sales process.
- Work collaboratively as part of One Team to meet the service level agreements (SLAs) and promote continuous learning and process improvement.
- Share feedback, insights, and recommendations for improving product and service offerings and internal processes to enhance overall customer experience.
- Operate in line with FCA regulatory expectations, the FCA Consumer Duty and documented internal policies and procedures.
- Engage in coaching and development sessions, embracing feedback to improve personal performance and contribute to the overall success of the team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in our systems, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR.
- Ensure customer data is managed securely, in line with company policies and standards, while always prioritising customer privacy and security.
- Develop a deep knowledge of our products and services so you can respond confidently to questions and share the benefits with customers.
About you
- Previous experience in a consultative Sales orientated role working to targets. This could be as a Sales Consultant, Sales Executive, Field Sales Executive, Sales Advisor.
- Experience of selling funeral plans / insurance plans / knowledge of FCA compliance would be beneficial however not essential as full training is provided.
- Due to the travel element of the role a full driving licence and own transport is essential.
- The ability to generate customer leads through proactive work addressing relevant customer opportunities in your region.
- Self-motivated with a passion for meeting and exceeding targets ethically.
- The ability to talk confidently about a range of products and tailoring responses to meet customer needs, both B2B and B2C.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- You’ll need to pass a DBS (criminal record) check to be considered for this role.
- Resilient and able to build strong relationships with potential customers, offering compassionate and professional support.
