My Client is looking for an Interim Head of HR to lead on developing the organisation’s people strategy and practices. Fixed term contract - up to 6 months. Days: 4 days a week. 9:00am to 5:00pm. Location: Torquay.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the HR Team complies with its departmental job description.
- Support the Board in strengthening the Company culture.
- Construction, management and responsibility for the annual HR Plan including HR and training budgets and monitoring of the same.
- Compile and present various types of management information on key performance indicators, including attrition, absence, annual leave, training and headcount to assist with business planning.
- Monitor HR trends throughout the company and the wider industry.
- Negotiate and review contracts with external recruitment partners to enable the continued streamlining and effectiveness of the company’s recruitment strategy.
- Develop and implement new recruitment processes that improve the interview selection process and candidate experience.
- Develop and support the Company’s people, including apprentices.
- Manage the processes that support the company in continuing to retain its Investors in People status.
- Implement talent management with succession plans to ensure a talent pipeline to support the Company’s growth plans.
- Deliver a development strategy for all employees; reviewing and improving the PDR process, advising on career development, sourcing and arranging cost-effective and impactful training initiatives to support a learning culture.
- Act as, and be seen as, a respected and trusted strategic adviser to the directors, SMT, and line managers.
- Partner with and support line managers to coach and guide around employee relations’ issues, best practice and maximising engagement.
- Monitor and review employee relations so that managing absence, disciplinaries, grievances and sickness, including Occupational Health referrals and Health Surveillance is effective and transparent.
- Manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, keeping the business informed. Recommend actions as required, ensuring appropriate trained personnel are available to conduct investigations.
- Provide advice on rewards and employee company benefits.
- Identify and implement new employee benefits to attract, and retain, the right talent to the business, remaining competitive in the market, and to foster a more inclusive working environment.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
- Ensure the appropriate resourcing of Reception services.
- Ensure all the company’s policies and procedures are up to date, comply with current employment law requirements and are in-line with the business’ needs.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all personal information received by HR (including current and past staff, job applicants, etc.) is maintained, and that all personal information is obtained, stored, used, and disposed of in accordance with current data protection regulations.
Job Purpose
To lead on developing the organisation’s people strategy and practices, inputting into the overall company leadership strategy from a people perspective, implementing and embedding HR policies and procedures, and ensuring that the organisation’s culture is aligned with plans for growth.
Responsible for: HR team members and Reception.
Head of HR must have sufficient breadth of experience, capability and inherent integrity to:
- Deliver a cohesive and effective HR department.
- Work proactively at and with the Senior Management Team.
- Provide support as required to the Group Managing Director in the development and delivery of the Company’s strategic plans.
- Possess the objectivity and openness of mind to reconsider standard approaches considering different or potentially changing circumstances.
- Respect and foster the Company ethos.
- Take care of, nurture and grow the staff and assets entrusted to them.
