The Job Role
We are seeking an experienced IBM I Developer to join our IT team, working with our core Infor System 21 ERP application. This is a critical role supporting and enhancing the systems that underpin our distribution operations, inventory management, and business processes. This is a full time, permanent role based in one of our offices or home based by agreement.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM i platform using RPG (RPG IV/ILE RPG)
- Support and customize the Infor System 21 ERP application to meet evolving business requirements
- Analyse business needs and translate them into technical solutions within the IBM I environment
- Write and maintain efficient, well-documented RPG code following best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within System 21 and related IBM I applications
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
- Perform system testing, debugging, and quality assurance activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation for all developments and modifications
- Work with DB2 databases, performing queries, updates, and optimization as needed
- Participate in system upgrades, patches, and implementation projects
- Provide third-line support for System 21 and IBM I applications
- Knowledge of integrated development environments for IBM i (RDi, SEU)

- Strong programming experience in IBM I RPG (RPG IV/ILE RPG)
- Proven experience working with Infor System 21 ERP application
- Good understanding of System 21 modules (such as Financials, Procurement, Inventory, Sales, Manufacturing)
- Experience with DB2/400 database management and SQL
- Knowledge of CL (Control Language) programming
- Understanding of IBM I operating system and architecture
- Ability to analyse and modify existing System 21 functionality
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
