Are you a media professional with sharp news sense, excellent political awareness, and a passion for shaping stories that matter? We are looking for a Media Manager to join one of our high-performing local government communications teams. You will be someone who is ready to protect and enhance our client's reputation, drive high-quality media engagement, and help us communicate clearly with the communities we and they serve.

About the role

As our new Media Manager, you will play a central role in:

  • Leading proactive and reactive media handling
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, stakeholders and partners
  • Supporting delivery of high-profile campaigns and narrative-driven communications
  • Advising senior officers and elected members on sensitive or complex issues
  • Developing engaging content across traditional and digital channels to strengthen our digital presence and expand our reach

You will be part of a supportive, fast-paced team working across local, regional and national issues, with plenty of space to grow, innovate, and make an impact.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong experience in press and media roles, ideally in a political, public sector or high-profile environment
  • Understands how to navigate sensitive or high-risk issues with confidence and good judgement
  • Is politically savvy and keeps up to date with the latest policy developments
  • Can work calmly under pressure, juggling multiple priorities and delivering to tight deadlines
  • Builds effective relationships and communicates with clarity and impact
  • Brings creativity, resilience, and ambition to everything they do
  • Can build trust and confidence at the highest levels, working with senior elected representatives and officers
