We are seeking a skilled Construction Plant Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a wide range of construction plant equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and a keen eye for detail to contribute to the smooth running of our construction projects. The position is full-time and involves working on-site at various construction locations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on construction plant machinery, including excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose faults accurately using specialised tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, ensuring minimal downtime of machinery.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repairs carried out.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with site managers and other team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and operational needs.
  • Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organised, and safe at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or in a similar mechanical role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems related to heavy machinery.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, drawings, and schematics accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to diagnostics and repairs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent are desirable.
  • Valid UK driving licence is essential; experience driving heavy plant equipment is advantageous.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a demanding environment.
