West Berkshire Council is seeking a motivated Financial Assessment & Charging Officer to join our Adult Social Care Service, reporting to the Senior Financial Assessment & Charging Officer.

The Role

  • Explaining the Council’s Charging for Adult Social Care Policy and undertaking financial assessments for individuals receiving adult social care services, ensuring accurate determination of charges and contributions.
  • Processing financial information and maintaining accurate, comprehensive records.
  • Providing welfare benefit advice and helping with benefit claims.
  • Collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure effective information sharing and resolution of queries.
  • Supporting the Financial Assessment & Charging Team in the delivery of the financial assessment and charging service.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in financial assessment and charging within a social care environment.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and support to service users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively, while also contributing to team objectives.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data processing.
