About the Role
The Underwriting Support Technician provides core administrative and processing support to the underwriting team, ensuring the accurate maintenance of records and the efficient handling of documentation throughout the underwriting cycle. This role plays a foundational part in supporting day-to-day operations, helping to ensure that underwriting activities run smoothly and to a high standard. It is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and format essential underwriting documents, such as quotes, endorsements, and certificates, ensuring they meet company and regulatory standards.
- Manage data entry by accurately inputting, updating, and verifying information across underwriting systems, spreadsheets, and CRM databases.
- Organise and track both digital and physical files, maintaining up-to-date logs of entries, amendments, and document distributions.
- Support the underwriting team during high-pressure periods like renewal cycles and new business onboarding to meet service targets.
- Liaise across departments, coordinating with Claims, Credit Control, and Compliance to verify documents and service active policies.
- Monitor workflows and reporting, tracking task queues and preparing ad hoc data analysis or reports for internal and external use.
- Ensure compliance and quality by following operational procedures, maintaining data integrity, and flagging any discrepancies or missing information for resolution.
- Engage in professional development by participating in training and mentorship to build a deeper understanding of underwriting products and systems.
Qualifications
- Previous administrative experience in an office or insurance environment (desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, alongside a willingness to learn bespoke underwriting systems and tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail when processing large volumes of data and the ability to manage routine tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for professional internal coordination and proactive team support.
- A proactive and reliable approach, taking initiative to improve efficiencies while remaining dependable and conscientious in daily responsibilities.
- The ability to work effectively within a team structure, supporting colleagues to ensure consistent service delivery.
