About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as a Claims Handler. This role will provide effective claims handling and advice to Members in accordance with the Claims Department’s guidelines and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage a dedicated portfolio of claims, specifically focusing on Chartering Members, while adhering to departmental guidelines and authority levels.
- Evaluate risk and liability by gathering and analyzing critical information to determine the best course of action.
- Provide strategic advice to Members on handling claims in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Execute financial tasks, including setting claim estimates, processing payments, and managing reimbursements.
- Monitor Defence claims to assess coverage, track budgetary support, and coordinate closely with the Head of Defence.
- Maintain strict administrative diligence by reviewing time bars, key dates, and ensuring all files are accessible and compliant with company policy.
- Analyze Member performance and fleet development, reporting relevant insights to the Underwriting department and leadership.
- Cultivate stakeholder relationships through direct visits and networking to enhance service delivery and support business growth.
- Collaborate across departments to share knowledge and maintain seamless communication between the Claims, Defence and Underwriting teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Shipping (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of shipping, dry and wet.
- Excellent communication skills and ready to take direction from the Team leader and other senior members of the team.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
