This key position sits within West Yorkshire Police’s Finance and Commercial Services Directorate, playing a vital role in protecting public money and supporting frontline policing through effective financial management and insurance governance. We’re looking for a proactive, detail focused Officer who can work confidently both independently and as part of a busy team, balancing a varied workload with accuracy and professionalism.

As a key member of the Finance Support Team, you’ll assist the Finance and Insurance Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the Force’s insurance function whilst providing high quality financial and administrative support across the organisation, including NPAS and regional operations. Role and Responsibilities

You will play a key role in providing an efficient and comprehensive support function to the Finance and Insurance Team. This will include the day-to-day management of the electronic Insurance Mailbox whilst maintaining accurate finance and insurance related records in accordance with financial regulations and Force Policies in support of sound Insurance and financial performance.

Key Duties / Outputs
  • Provide support to the Finance and Insurance Lead with the provision of a comprehensive insurance service across the Force, NPAS and Region, ensuring accurate and timely records are maintained and administered.
  • Act as the single point of contact and record in relation to Finance and Commercial Services Freedom of Information Requests.
  • Act as the single point of contact for commissioning reviews for Finance and Commercial Services policies and forms.
  • Ensure the communication channels for Finance and Commercial Services are accurate, timely and up to date including Departmental Intranet site.
  • Provision of support within the wider finance function for processing and inputting transactions to ensure that income and expenditure is accurately and correctly reflected in the financial records.
  • Provide assistance to customers as applicable ensuring compliance with operating procedures, financial regulations and Force Policy.
  • Deliver the process for external secondments ensuring income is recovered against all secondments in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Manage finance databases where appropriate, including Grant returns, annual deadlines and HMICFRS requirements.
Dimensions

Responding to strict, financial deadlines and working within the Force Financial Regulations. Assist with the preparation of accounting information and reports based on instructions provided. Assist with the analysis of financial information.

  • Has basic knowledge of office systems and procedures.

  • Has the ability to successfully complete training in the use of relevant computer systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel around the Force area if required.
