Looking for a senior finance role where you can make a real impact on policing services? This key position sits within West Yorkshire Police's Finance and Commercial Services Directorate, providing high quality financial insight, challenge and advice that supports both operational and strategic decision making across Districts, Departments and Directorates. We’re looking for a confident, motivated finance professional who can work collaboratively with senior leaders while managing a varied and demanding portfolio. As a senior member of the Finance Business Partnering Team, you’ll support the Finance Business Partner in delivering a comprehensive finance service, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and helping ensure resources are used effectively to support frontline policing. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a vital role in public service while developing their business partnering career.
Responsibilities
- Acting as a key link between finance and operational leaders across Districts, Departments and Directorates
- Supporting the preparation, coordination and management of revenue and capital budgets at local, Force wide, regional and national levels
- Monitoring and reporting on financial performance, producing clear and insightful management information
- Providing professional financial advice and constructive challenge to Senior Leadership Teams
- Contributing to medium term financial planning and forecasting, identifying risks, trends and opportunities
- Supporting efficiency planning, including savings identification, benefits realisation and value for money activity
- Representing Finance and Commercial Services at meetings, project boards and working groups
- Coordinating the work of Assistant Finance Business Partners and Apprentice Accounting Technicians
- Providing coaching, mentoring and development support within the team
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, policies and governance requirements

Essential Criteria
- Part qualified CCAB status or AAT qualification, with significant experience in a large, complex financial environment
- Proven experience in budget management, financial planning and forecasting

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Supervisory or team leading experience
- Formal Finance Business Partner training or development
