Watch Manager Fire Investigation Officer (Internal only)

Applications are invited for a Specialist Fire Investigation Officer ( Watch Manager ) to work as part of the Fire Investigation Team and working on the Flexi Duty System.

The Fire Investigation Team are currently based at Stanningley Fire Station, Stanningley Road, Stanningley , L eeds , LS28 6FS.

In addition to the role of fire investigator, team members are responsible for training, assessment and quality control of L evel 1 F ire I nvestigations at W atch Manager level.

Working arrangements reflect the five-week rota FDS duty system for which a 20% pensionable allowance is payable . The successful applicant will be required to provide an address within the West Yorkshire boundary whilst on-call .

A vehicle is available in line with the current FDS vehicle policy

In addition to other requirements all applicants must meet the following criteria;

B e a substantive , competent Watch Manager

Possess a substantial and wide range of practical experience of emergency operations as an Incident Commander

H old and maintain a current category B driving licence

H ave no current disciplinary awards.

Demonstrates effectiveness in their current role (as per Annual Review).

In order to be shortlisted for the post you will need to demonstrate your ability to meet the requirements of the job by giving clear, concise examples of how you meet each of the person specification criteria on your application form.

Timeline

  • The closing date for applications is Sunday 20 th September 2026 (midnight).
  • It is anticipated that following the application process, shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake an assessment to investigate a simulated fire scene w/c Monday 5 th October 2026 .
  • Interview to take place w/c 19 October 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo satisfactory full security clearance checks.
