We currently have a vacancy for a Web and Digital Media Advisor to join our Digital Media team.
You will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the Combined Authority’s website redevelopment project. This will include migrating content across multiple websites, building and updating web pages using our content management system, and ensuring all content meets accessibility and SEO standards. You will work closely with external agencies and internal colleagues across communications, marketing, policy and digital teams to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with organisational priorities. Your work will help create a user-focused and accessible digital presence that supports the Mayor, the Combined Authority, and its strategic objectives.
Vetting
Due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will be subject to relevant vetting checks at the appropriate level and any job offer will be conditional subject to successful vetting clearance. Applicants should be aware that it is not possible to make meaningful vetting enquiries in many jurisdictions outside the UK. Vetting clearance cannot therefore be granted if the applicant has not been resident in the UK for the relevant minimum period and comparable vetting enquiries cannot be made in jurisdictions where the individual has been residing. The relevant periods are three years for NPPV 1&2 and five years for NPPV3.

The Role
Reporting to the Web and Digital Media Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Combined Authority’s website redevelopment project. This is a hands-on role, where you will contribute to both the creation and migration of high-quality, accessible web content that supports organisational priorities and enhances the user experience.
- Supporting the migration of content across the Combined Authority’s digital footprint, including building templates and pages using the content management system (CMS).
- Creating, editing and updating web content in line with SEO and accessibility standards, including metadata optimisation, keyword integration, and readability enhancements.
- Liaising with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to translate project objectives into engaging web copy that reflects the voice and values of the organisation.
- Conducting content audits, proofreading material such as marketing landing pages, blogs, news items, and ensuring consistency across digital platforms.
- Supporting user testing and peer review processes to enhance usability and functionality across redeveloped sites.
- Using CMS tools to manage users and implement updates and liaising with external digital suppliers where necessary.
About You
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:
- Educated to degree level or relevant qualification in marketing or communications.
- Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
- Demonstrable understanding of digital marketing, web content development and communications.
- Experience writing and editing website content that aligns with SEO and accessibility best practices.
- Experience using content management systems (CMS) to build webpages - experience using Umbraco is desirable but not essential.
- Experience drafting copy and creating web content for multiple target audiences.
