We are seeking a Meeting and Events Steward to join our team in delivering exceptional experiences and ensuring the success of every event.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the historic Grade I listed Edes House, located in the heart of Chichester. Edes House is a distinguished hospitality venue registered for ceremonies and hosts meetings and events for external clients as well as West Sussex County Council.

What is a casual contract? A casual contract allows us, as the employer, to offer work as and when it becomes available. It does not always guarantee hours, so you are given the option to accept or deny assignments as determined by us.
The role requires participation on a shift system based across 7 days a week around the business and will sometimes mean early starts or late finishes (07.30 to 21.00), but core hours will be between 08.30 and 18.00. There will be requirements to work weekends, bank holidays and split shifts according to the varying nature of the events.
About the Job
The role of the Meeting & Events Steward plays an important role at events and ceremonies held at Edes House.
On a day-to-day basis, you can expect to:
- Assist with the co-ordination of ceremonies by acting as an usher such as receiving and guiding guests.
- Assist Registration Officers in the performance of their duties during ceremonies.
- Support the events team with food and beverage service, room set-ups, event co-ordination and hosting events to the public.
- Be responsible for the Open and closure of house including clearing house and operating security system.

What We Need From You:
- Have a cheerful disposition and a willingness to welcome our guests both at ceremonies and events with a smile.
- Great interpersonal skills to ensure guests are at ease and feel that the event is well organised and managed professionally.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience of customer service
- Good IT skills including competent use of Microsoft word, excel, emails and mobile apps such as WhatsApp.
