We are recruiting Facilities Officers who are passionate about making a difference within our adult’s social care homes and day centres across West Sussex. Directly Provided Services (DPS) offers a comprehensive range of social care services managed by West Sussex County Council. These services include 7 day centres and 6 residential services, all with buildings to maintain and situated across the county from Bognor Regis to Horsham to Worthing. Support can be provided on a long-term basis, for short breaks, or through day care and support options. DPS is dedicated to empowering individuals to maintain and regain their independence while maximising the resources available within their local communities.
The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering facilities management (FM) services across a range of sites, ensuring buildings are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. The role will include monitoring maintenance and repairs, supporting statutory compliance (e.g. fire, water, asbestos), and overseeing contractors such as cleaning and grounds maintenance. This is a mobile role requiring travel between sites, with occasional out-of-hours work to support essential services. Facilities Officers have access to a company van and are provided with a uniform. On-site FM Officers will be managed and supervised by Facilities Management Area Managers and will also receive daily support and guidance from the relevant residential or day service management and senior teams. Working in our environments is highly rewarding, and the role of the Facilities Management Officer is vital in maintaining safe and comfortable spaces for our people, and the FM officers will be expected to approach all workplaces with respect, and awareness of the service users and their comfort in the place they call home.
To apply for a Facilities Officer role with us you will need:
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, and service users.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to confidently work independently.
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills, including basic plumbing, decorating and carpentry.
- An understanding that you will be working in a person’s home and the importance of dignity and respect for the individual and their environment.

- Being part of the Facilities Team, you will be provided with a series of mandatory training such as Asbestos Awareness and Working from Height.
