About the role:
West Suffolk Council continues a journey of ambitious change and are committed to being more commercial. We have a vacancy for a full time Technical Support Officer (WSOH) to assist in the setting up of our new food waste collection service and to provide a dedicated customer contact point for all other aspects of our commercial operation.
This is a high-profile role and provides an essential first point of contact for existing and new customers; therefore, a professional telephone manner is essential.
Duties for this post include customer invoicing, amendments to contracts, mediating between customers and front-line staff, upselling and managing debt.
What you will need:
- To possess excellent IT skills and have proven experience of working with accounting databases and spreadsheets.
- Experience of dealing with customer complaints and service requests.
- Understanding of waste management products and services and their application in a commercial environment.
- Ability to manage extensive databases, maintain IT systems and provide accurate reports.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Knowledge of corporate financial management systems, creditor and debtor processes.
- Good understanding of motor vehicles and plant (to be able to engage with drivers reporting defects etc.).
- Good understanding of workshop loading techniques and principles.
- The drive and desire to improve the service we deliver along with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, be highly organised, with diligence and accuracy, are vital for this role.
