About the Role
King Street Surgery is recruiting for a receptionist/administrator to join their busy team on a part-time basis, for 23 hours per week. The hours are to be worked in the following schedule:
- Monday 9:00 β 18:30 (break: 13:30 β 14:00)
- Wednesday 13:30 β 18:30
- Thursday 14:30 β 18:30
- Friday 13:30 β 18:30
Flexibility is required for holiday and sickness cover of colleagues.
The reception/admin staff form one team and provides cover across a range of administrative duties associated with the surgery. The post-holder will be part of this team, contributing to the smooth running of the practice by:
- ensuring that all enquiries from patients in person or by telephone are handled efficiently and courteously.
- filing, record-keeping and processing documents.
- liaising with doctors and other members of staff.
- preparing for each surgery, ensuring premises are tidy.
- receiving and making telephone calls, and taking accurate notes.
- booking and cancelling appointments, as necessary and deal efficiently with the computerised appointments system.
- answering general enquiries and explaining practice procedures e.g. on registration, changes of address, etc.
- issuing medication prepared by the dispenser, when the dispensary is closed, taking, and accounting for, any prescription charges due as appropriate.
- maintaining and operating computer and manual administrative systems.
- opening and closing surgery premises.
- informing patients of hospital test results, as directed by the doctor.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following skills, experience or attributes:
- experience of working with the public in a frontline customer service role. Previous receptionist experience within a medical setting would be an advantage, though not essential as full training will be provided.
- IT skills are essential: computer literacy, MS Word, email and the ability to learn new systems.
- GCSE English and maths at grade A-C.

As a training practice, across three sites, we are at the forefront of clinical practice and our practice ethos is one which supports training and development.
We have a list size of 21,150, with 7 GP partners, 12 salaried GPs, nursing team, paramedic, clinical pharmacists, management and reception/administration teams.
