About the Role
Walton Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a practice nurse to join our practice. This role is offered on a part-time basis of 16+ hours per week, with flexibility on days and hours. Walton Medical Practice is situated in the traditional seaside resort of Walton on the Naze, on the Essex Coast. They have a list size of just over 8300 patients. As well as 2 GP Partners and a salaried GP, the Practice team includes a Clinical Pharmacy team of 2, a Nursing team of 10 and an efficient and effective Reception and Administrative team of 18.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments
- General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, personalised plans for patients
- Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies
- Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately
- Undertake asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD clinics/reviews
- Dressing and wound care
- Phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening
- Management of long term conditions
- Cervical cytology sampling
- Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad
About the Candidate
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A relevant nursing degree and at least 2 years post experience in general practice
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN
- Competent to undertake asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD clinics/reviews and hold relevant certificates
- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, dressing and wound care and recording spirometry
- Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of the patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.
- Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS
