About the Role

Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join our team.

You will be based at Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre but may be required to travel between the GP practices within our PCN (NN4).

This role is offered on a part or full‑time basis depending on the applicant.

The successful candidate will benefit from this opportunity to build up strong working relationships, across our organisation, and will be actively involved in how their role evolves over time.

Responsibilities

  • Developing our prescribing systems to ensure safe, effective and efficient prescribing.
  • Supporting the reception and dispensary teams, with complex medication queries.
  • Supporting the GPs on prescribing projects and cost/safety audits and actions.
  • Working collaboratively with GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other practice staff to support the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Managing patient prescriptions.
  • Supporting medication reviews and reconciliations.
  • Providing advice to patients on the safe use of medications, including over‑the‑counter products where appropriate.
  • Minimising medication wastage.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records using the clinical system (Systm One).
  • About the Candidate

To be considered for the position, the successful candidate will

  • Be a registered pharmacy technician with the GPh C.
  • Hold a Diploma Level 3 in pharmacy services, or equivalent.
  • Have strong experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting.
  • Be confident in analysing and presenting information to health professionals.
  • Have experience of implementing and promoting cost‑effective strategies.
  • Have the ability to interpret complex clinical information and present it in suitable formats, to a variety of people from professional and non‑professional backgrounds.
  • Have knowledge of current NHS prescribing policies and guidance.
  • Be self‑motivated with a strong commitment to personal and professional development.

About Us

Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre is a well‑established, semi‑rural practice with a patient population of around 10,000.

We are a 6‑doctor dispensing practice and we pride ourselves on how our teams work together to provide a high‑quality, effective, efficient and reliable service to our practice population.

We treat our patients with respect, dignity and the upmost care and compassion, and are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our services.

We are a teaching practice involved in training GPs and medical students from the UEA.

Our aim is for all those working at the practice to feel valued, respected and mutually supported.

From 2026, Hoveton and Wroxham Medical Centre will be managing primary care services at the new Magna Medical Centre in Rackheath. You may be expected to work across both sites.

This is a friendly practice which is undergoing rapid expansion.
