Cobbs Garden Surgery has an exciting opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our friendly, forward‑thinking team on a part‑time basis for 3‑4 days per week. This is an excellent role for a skilled nurse with respiratory training and/or cardiovascular training who enjoys a broad clinical remit, continuity of care and being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. (Job share considered).
Working as a key member of our nursing team, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care to our practice population. Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking health assessments, administering medications and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests
- FeNO or Spirometry Assessments and/or Cardiovascular Assessments
- Doppler assessments
- Injections, including Zoladex
- Travel vaccinations
- Dressings, including compression therapy
- Baby and childhood immunisations
- ECG recording
- HRT and contraception reviews
- Cervical screening
- Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to meet patients’ health and social care needs
- Promoting general health and wellbeing, and creating person‑centred care plans for patients with, or at risk of, long‑term conditions
- Managing and treating long‑term conditions in line with national and local guidelines and practice protocols
- Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence‑based practice and agreed protocols, and supporting patients with adherence
- Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiating effective emergency care
- Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception and cervical cytology consultations
- Implementing and participating in vaccination and immunisation programmes for adults and children, including for patients travelling abroad
- Hypertension review and management
- New patient checks and NHS health checks
You will work closely with our GPs, ANPs, pharmacist and wider team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
We are looking for an experienced practice nurse who can demonstrate:
- Qualifications and registration
- A relevant nursing degree
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience/qualifications
- Clinical skills and experience
- Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetes clinics and reviews, with relevant certificates
- Proven experience in:
- Treatment room consultations
- Screening and management of long‑term conditions
- Cervical cytology sampling (desired)
- Vaccinations and immunisations (desired)
- Cardiovascular Assessments (desired)
- Assisting with minor surgery
- Dressings and wound care
- Recording spirometry
- Personal qualities and knowledge
- A compassionate, empathetic manner and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work
- A strong commitment to preserving the dignity of patients, their relatives and carers, and to working collaboratively with colleagues
- Knowledge and practical experience of supporting patients with long‑term conditions
- Insight into current issues in nursing and the wider NHS, and a willingness to contribute positively to our energetic team.
