About the Role
We are excited to announce that Leiston Surgery has a vacancy available for an enthusiastic and flexible, full-time health care assistant or trainee healthcare assistant, to join our team. We are looking for an individual to work 37.5 hours per week working across 4-5 days.
Duty patterns are variable but the practice core hours are from 7.45am-6.30pm Monday to Friday.

- Check patient identification against GP request and confirm details with the patient
- Provide phlebotomy in accordance to training and procedures
- Provide simple wound care/dressings in accordance to training and procedures
- Take physiological measurements from patients including blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight (body mass index), visual acuity, urinalysis and ECG
- Administer B12 injections flu and pneumonia vaccinations under patient specific directions
- Record and monitor cold chain storage and reporting any abnormalities
- Undertake new patient health checks, peak-flow measurement, spirometry, suture and clip removal and carry out other tasks for which you have received appropriate training
- Fit 24 hour BP machines as directed and in accordance with training and procedure
- Assist GPs undertaking minor surgery
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient interventions
- Clear and restock of consulting/treatment rooms, including timely order of stock items under your control

We are a dispensing practice serving a population of 9,450 patients, operating primarily from Leiston Surgery with a branch in Yoxford. We consistently achieve high QOF results and maintain strong links with our Primary Care Network (PCN). Our current team includes:

- 3 Part-time Salaried GPs
- 2 Physician Associates
- A stable, high-performing nursing team
- In-house physiotherapy services and remote clinical pharmacists
We use TPP SystmOne, AccuRx, DXS, and Anima Triage, with full training provided as needed. We hold regular educational sessions for all clinicians and enjoy excellent collaboration with community teams and an active Patient Participation Group (PPG).
We offer strong career development opportunities, including teaching undergraduates from UEA and Cambridge University, and supporting international post-graduate training as a certified training practice.
