Mount Farm Surgery is seeking a salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive, and well-established practice team on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover from September 2026. We are flexible to sessions worked so please apply to discuss.
Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group. The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as well as undertaking a variety of duties, including:
- surgery consultations
- telephone consultations and queries
- visiting patients at home
- checking and signing repeat prescriptions
- dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion

- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
- Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- Be on the NHSE medical performers list
And skills, including:
- Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services
- Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
- Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner
Mount Farm Surgery is an innovative and professional teaching practice in Suffolk, located on the outskirts of the cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds with close links to the A14. Our practice team consists of 10 GPs plus a dedicated clinical team including GP trainees, ECPs, ACPs, a clinical pharmacist, nurses, and HCAs. We have a dedicated management team, plus a large team of other administrative staff. Our membership of Bury St Edmunds PCN ensures we have an extended team which includes a paramedic home visiting service, on site clinical pharmacists, a practice based social prescriber and 2 care co-ordinators.
