Kingswood Medical Centre in Basildon is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic receptionist to join our busy, well-established team on a part time basis for between 30 hours per week, working alternate weeks of early and late, 5 days per week. Please note the early shift is 8am to 2pm and late shift 12:30-6:30pm. We can consider the hours over 4 days working Tuesday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day and alternate weeks doing early and late shifts. The early shifts being 8am-4pm and the lates 10:30am-6:30pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients politely and ensure that the appointment system is run efficiently.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Signpost patients to the correct service.
  • Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors to the practice as appropriate.
  • Enter and book requests for home visits including all relevant information.
  • Explain practice arrangements and requirements for new and temporary patients.
  • Accept registration forms from prospective patients ensuring adherence to practice policies, including online requests.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Manage administrative queries, tasks, results, etc. as necessary in an efficient and timely manner.

Qualities and Attributes:

  • Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
  • Experience working with the general public.
  • Previous experience working in a reception or administrative position.
  • A positive, calm, organised approach.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and to be able to multitask.
  • Previous healthcare or customer service experience would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of primary care and SystmOne is an advantage.
  • Flexible and willing to work outside hours as required.

About Us:

We are a GMS non-dispensing practice and look after approximately 10,500 patients with a growing list size and operate from modern purpose-built premises. We are part of Mid and South Essex ICB, and West Basildon Primary Care Network (PCN). The practice is committed to delivering high quality patient care which requires us to have a supportive and cohesive team. We are incredibly proud of how we provide care for our patients. We are rated as CQC Good and are a high QOF achieving practice. Our team consists of 2 GP Partners supported by 5 salaried GPs. In addition to our doctors, we have other clinicians working for the practice: ANPs, practice nurses, HCAs, and also a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of Pharmacists, MH practitioners and home visiting service. The clinical staff are supported by our admin team including receptionists, secretaries, workflow and prescriptions clerk. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical and practice staff meetings. Our benefits include an NHS Pension and free parking.
