About the Role
Are you looking for a phlebotomist position that prioritises work-life balance, well-being, and professional development in a friendly, well-run, and innovative environment? Mendlesham Medical Group has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced or a newly qualified phlebotomist to join our team on a part-time basis, for 17.5 – 20 hours per week working Monday to Fridays at our branch site at Bacton. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time work, we’d love to discuss how you can fit into our thriving practice.
Responsibilities
- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
- Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples.
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible.
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues.
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care.
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
- Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient.
- Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
- Flexibility and an adaptable approach.
