Thorpe-Le-Soken Surgery is seeking an experienced advanced nurse practitioner/emergency care practitioner/paramedic for 37.5 hours a week to join our friendly, supportive and caring team. The role is working between Thorpe Surgery and our branch surgery in Kirby Cross. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic primary care environment, combining autonomous clinical decision-making with direct patient care. The role is split between working as a duty clinician, managing urgent same-day demand, and delivering face-to-face patient consultations within the surgery.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Act as duty clinician, triaging and managing urgent patient presentations
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute and minor illness
- Provide high-quality, patient-centred care in face-to-face clinics
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Prescribe medications (if qualified) and manage care plans appropriately
- Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history
About the Candidate
To be considered for this position, you will require the following:
- Qualified emergency care practitioner, paramedic practitioner, or equivalent
- Registered with relevant professional body (HCPC or NMC)
- Experience in urgent or primary care settings
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
About Us
Our list size is currently 8,000. We use EMIS Web clinical system and consult with our patients using a range of methods from face to face, telephone. Alongside EMIS Web we are currently using integrated Accrx. We also have a branch surgery in Kirby Cross and all our staff work across both sites. Our practice offers the full range of primary care services including joint injections and minor surgery. At Thorpe Surgery we are a close-knit team. We pride ourselves in supporting our staff with their personal and professional goals. We are strong believers in maintaining good work‑life balance and being able to enjoy work and attain job satisfaction. We have a fantastic range of ACP, ANPs, ECPs, PN, HCA’s, and pharmacists working with our 4 GPs ensuring a good mix of skills.
