Help turn customer opportunities into products we’re proud to manufacture.
More than just producing quotations.
West Port is a successful British manufacturer of high-performance bespoke timber windows, doors and fire doorsets, with a proud history built on craftsmanship, technical expertise, product performance and quality. But we’re not standing still.
We’re on an exciting journey as we continue to invest in our people, products, systems and processes bringing our Commercial, Sales, Technical and Operations teams closer together to deliver an uncompromising customer journey.
As part of that journey, we’re looking for an Estimator to join our team.
This is an important role at the heart of our business. You’ll take customer enquiries and project requirements and turn them into accurate, commercially considered quotations and orders that our manufacturing teams can bring to life.
What will you be doing?
No two projects are exactly the same.
You’ll work closely with customers and colleagues to understand what’s required, interpret project information and develop accurate quotations using our estimating systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing customer enquiries, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Preparing accurate and timely quotations.
- Speaking directly with customers to understand and clarify their requirements.
- Working alongside our Sales and Technical teams to identify the right product solution.
- Helping customers understand the options available to them.
- Managing multiple quotations and enquiries while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Following up information and helping keep customer opportunities moving.
- Converting successful quotations into accurate orders.
- Ensuring confirmed orders are processed correctly and efficiently.
- Working closely with Production to ensure requirements are clearly communicated.
- Responding professionally and promptly to customer queries.
- Developing your knowledge of timber windows, doors, fire doorsets and associated products.
- Playing your part in delivering an excellent customer experience from initial enquiry through to manufacture.
Accuracy is important in this role but so are communication, commercial awareness, curiosity and a desire to find solutions.
Who are we looking for?
You may already be an experienced estimator working within windows, doors, fire doors, joinery, construction, building products or manufacturing.
Alternatively, you may have strong experience in a technical, customer service, sales administration or order-processing environment and be looking for an opportunity to take the next step.
We’re interested in the person as much as the job title on your CV.
You’ll probably enjoy this role if you:
- Enjoy solving problems and finding solutions.
- Have a strong eye for detail and take pride in getting things right.
- Are comfortable working with numbers and technical information.
- Enjoy speaking with customers and building relationships.
- Can interpret drawings, specifications or detailed customer requirements – or are keen to learn.
- Can manage several priorities and deadlines at the same time.
- Take ownership and see tasks through to completion.
- Are organised, proactive and self-motivated.
- Communicate confidently with customers and colleagues.
- Enjoy learning how products are designed, specified and manufactured.
- Want to develop both your technical and commercial knowledge.
Previous estimating experience would be advantageous, but attitude, ability and a willingness to learn are equally important to us.
Full training on our products, software and systems will be provided.
Why join West Port?
You’ll be joining a British manufacturing business with a long-standing reputation for quality, technical expertise, craftsmanship and product testing.
We’re proud of our history but equally excited about what comes next.
We’re continuing to develop our products, embrace changes within our industry and invest in how we work. That means creating stronger connections between our Commercial, Sales, Technical and Operations teams and giving our people the tools, knowledge and support they need to succeed.
For the right person, this isn’t simply a job producing quotations.
It’s an opportunity to become an important part of the customer journey, build valuable specialist knowledge and develop your career as West Port continues to grow.
